A lifetime of skin wisdom, now shared online.

For many years, I had the privilege of sitting across from women in my skin clinic and talking with them about their skin.

Every face had a story.

Some women came because their skin had suddenly become dry or sensitive. Others were concerned about pigmentation, ageing or breakouts. And many simply felt that their skin had changed and they didn’t know why.

There was one sentence I heard over and over again:

“I don’t know what’s happened to my skin.”

At the beginning of my career, I thought my role was primarily to find the right skincare products for each person.

But thousands of consultations taught me something much more important.

Most women don’t need another cream.

They need someone to help them understand what their skin is trying to tell them.

Because skin isn’t static.

It changes as we do.

It responds to our environment, our hormones, stress, travel, seasons, lifestyle and the natural ageing process. Sometimes the products we’ve been using for years are no longer supporting what our skin needs today.

And when we don’t understand those changes, it’s very easy to start chasing solutions.

A new serum.

A stronger exfoliant.

A richer moisturiser.

Another product promising to fix the latest concern.

I’ve seen women arrive at my clinic with bathroom cabinets full of expensive skincare, yet their skin was still uncomfortable, dehydrated or reactive.

The problem wasn’t necessarily that they had chosen bad products.

They simply hadn’t been taught how to understand their skin.

Learning to listen

Over the years, I learned to look beyond the obvious.

Was the skin tight after cleansing?

Was it lacking water rather than oil?

Was the barrier compromised?

Had something changed in the woman’s life?

Was she experiencing more stress than usual?

Had the climate changed?

Sometimes the most important part of a consultation wasn’t recommending a product at all.

It was asking another question.

And then listening to the answer.

That experience changed the way I approach skincare.

I stopped thinking about skincare as a collection of products and started thinking about it as a conversation with the skin.

Your skin is constantly giving you information.

We just need to learn how to recognise it.

From my clinic to online

Although my clinic has now closed, the lessons I learned during those years continue to guide everything I do.

Today, I work with women online through personalised skin consultations and the Love Your Skin Club, helping them understand their skin and make informed choices about the products they use at home.

The setting has changed.

The philosophy hasn’t.

I still believe that skincare should be simple, considered and respectful of the skin’s natural function.

And I still believe that understanding should come before products.

Because when you understand why your skin is behaving the way it is, choosing what to do next becomes so much easier.

You don’t have to follow every skincare trend.

You don’t need a bathroom full of products.

And you certainly don’t need to feel that you’re doing something wrong because your skin has changed.

Your skin is not failing you.

It’s communicating with you.

The more you learn to listen, the more confidently you can care for it.

A simple question to ask yourself today

Next time you notice a change in your skin, try not to immediately ask:

“What product do I need?”

Instead, ask:

“What is my skin trying to tell me?”

That simple change in thinking can be the beginning of a completely different relationship with your skin.

And after all these years of working with women and their skin, it’s still one of the most valuable lessons I can share.

Healthy skin begins with understanding.
